62 Transcontinental Newspapers go live on MediaSpan’s Editorial System
ANN ARBOR, MI (June 3, 2010) -- MediaSpan the leading provider of digital content management, for over 4,000 media properties, announced today that 62 Transcontinental publications in Canada are now live on the latest version of IQue including IQueWeb for remote access.
More than 175 seats of IQue are being utilized at three production centers located in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and St John’s, Newfoundland. Transcontinental titles utilizing IQue, include The Telegram, The Moose Jaw Times Herald and The Amherst Daily News.
Transcontinental was looking for a system that would allow them to consolidate resources yet still offer their papers the flexibility and power to produce the dynamic on –line and print content that today’s sophisticated readers demand. “Remote connectivity, for newspapers, and publishing in general, is the future, and IQueWeb allows us to accomplish a part of this. Newspapers are looking for ways to improve their bottom lines and consolidation is a big part of that, whether it is financial systems, circulation systems, production systems or editorial systems. More papers will be creating centralized production centers, as we have, and the ability to have a good user experience while working remotely is essential”, said Rob Batten, Director of Production and Information Technology.
IQue’s flexible feature set includes the ability to manage multimedia news packages incorporating text, pictures, graphics and video. Key components of the system include; IQueWeb a browser based entry point into the database designed for consolidating operations and TransporterNG a powerful automation tool that facilitates the automated delivery and reception of multimedia data to disparate publishing channels.
