Barbados Today Utilizes MediaSpan Solutions to Publish Web Only Publications

MediaSpan’s AdManagerPro and IQue are backbone of new publishing venture

ANN ARBOR, MI (July 20, 2010) – MediaSpan announced today that Barbados Today is live with AdManagerPro and IQue.

“MediaSpan and its suite of solutions made it the natural choice for us. The integrated AdManagerPro and IQue editorial products provide us with the robust backend to confidently and consistently deliver on our commitments to our readers and advertisers. MediaSpan also gives us the agility and flexibility we need to book advertising off-site via AMPWeb and enter and edit copy offsite through IQueWeb,” said Ted Taylor, Manger of Information Technology, Barbados Today. “Beyond the products themselves MediaSpan’s advice, training and support have given us the frames of reference we need to refine our product and workflows as well as the help we need to realise our vision.”

IQue’s flexible feature set includes the ability to manage multimedia news packages incorporating text, pictures, graphics and video.  Key components of the system include; IQueWeb a browser based entry point into the database designed for consolidating operations and TransporterNG a powerful automation tool that facilitates the automated delivery and reception of multimedia data to disparate publishing channels.

AdManagerPro, MediaSpan’s advertising content management solution, is a full-featured system, which includes a very powerful reporting engine, accounts receivables and ad booking functionality. In addition, the browser based client gives users any time anywhere accessibility.

About Barbados Today
Barbados Today http://news.barbadostoday.bb is the realisation of a vision by core newspaper people for an online newspaper. Barbados Today is a product that takes the reader beyond simply reading the news into an interactive experience of sound, animation and video; additionally readers can effect immediate physical interaction through live web and email links.  With Barbados Today the “reader”, a word used loosely, no longer sits back in the stereotypical reading position but naturally moves forward and engages the publication in a pseudo-conversational relationship.

Barbados Today’s readership base is experiencing monthly growth that currently averages sixty percent. Fifty seven percent of these readers are local; the US, Canada and the United Kingdom round out the top four markets with twenty two, nine and six percent respectively.

One core tenet that drives Barbados Today is the commitment to use as many of the current technologies available in its distribution channels to guarantee delivery of our products in whatever form the public favours. To that end, Barbados Today is currently piloting delivery to the visually impaired while its substantive product continues to be published in a flash based ePaper. Barbados Today also publishes an html version, a smart phone version, and RSS feeds and also has a growing Facebook community with fans who not only follow the publications and feeds but also regularly offer suggestions and contributions. These products and methods of delivery result in a potent combination of content and availability that attracts and delivers a tech savvy niche market to Barbados Today’s discerning advertisers.
